Mission The mission of the Division of Hematology-Oncology at AUBMC is to continue as a national leader in the field of hematology and oncology after the opening of the bone marrow transplantation unit and while awaiting the development of a new comprehensive cancer center (Bassil Cancer Center). This is being accomplished by striving toward excellence in the areas of patient's care, research, and teaching. This divisional mission is supported and confirmed by the mission of the Department of Internal Medicine at AUBMC.
Through the highly qualified multidisciplinary faculty and staff for cancer treatment at AUBMC, the Hematology-Oncology division is uniquely positioned to reduce morbidity and mortality from cancer by
- conducting basic and clinical research
- facilitating and expediting the transfer results from scientific investigation to quality patient care
- provide high quality health services in detection, diagnosis, and rehabilitation
- contributing to the educational advancement of health professionals
- increasing public awareness regarding cancer
- promoting public policy changes to improve prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer
The aim of our future multidisciplinary cancer program is to work with other cancer centers and institutional providers of health services in Lebanon to reduce the incidence and mortality from cancer and to provide effective treatment for patients with cancer.
